Gopal Prasad Tiwari is currently engaged at the Confederation of Banks and Financial
Institutions Nepal (CBFIN) as Director General. CBFIN is an only apex body of the commercial
banks, development banks and finance companies in Nepal. Earlier, he was also affiliated with
the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), an apex body of
Nepal’s business sector, as an Officiating Director General. Tiwari also worked with
International Organizations/Development partners for more than 9 years as a Senior expert on
private sector development/investment climate at the United Nations agencies/World Bank
Group.
He has submitted his PhD thesis on “Improvement of Business Environment in Nepal”. He was
granted a Graduate Fellowship in Norway under Scientific Scholarship in 2016 and completed
his diploma there specializing on “Innovation Management and Social Entrepreneurship”.
He is a Master’s Degree holder from the Tribhuvan University in Economics back in 2003. He
has been associated with the Nepal Economic Association — only one non-partisan and non-
profit making national organizations of professional economists — as a Member since 2003,
immediately after the completion of Post-Graduate Degree.
He is an intermittent lecturer on macro-economic issues/private sector development/Social
entrepreneurship and innovation management. He has published hundreds of articles in national
newspapers related to economy, trade, diplomacy, SME, economic policy, investment climate,
social entrepreneurship, innovation management, among others. He has also published a number
of research articles in international journals. He has conducted various research on diversified
economic issues for national and international organizations.
He has been honored by the country’s former finance ministers for his contribution in the
economic development of Nepal. He is currently honorary Secretary General of Nepal Economic
Association (NEA). He is the Former President of Society of Economic Journalists Nepal. He is
an affiliated honorary research fellow at Norwegian Scientific Research Institute since 2016 and
attends at international workshop as a keynote speaker at times. He is a senior fellow at the
Salzberg Global Seminar, Vienna, Austria since 2007. He takes interest on Scientific Research
focusing on “Social and Innovative Entrepreneurship”, private sector development, investment
climate, economic diplomacy, public private dialogue and trade, innovation management, private
sector development, public private dialogue, agriculture sector, trade,
WTO related issues,
